This handbook is designed to inform parents about our school. We hope that you, the parents and guardians, find the information to be both informational and empowering.

Philosophy

We educate and nurture all children with the highest expectation for success in life.

Children are our foremost concern; therefore, we, the Cheltenham community, believe that each person is unique and capable of learning.  Each child is provided with focused, meaningful instruction resulting in personal success.  Mutual respect is the key to empowering students, staff, parents and community.  Cheltenham Elementary highly values its community’s diversity, dual-language abilities and its emphasis on providing a superb educational foundation.  All members of our community are life-long learners and are challenged and supported to reach their fullest potential.

We meet 4 times a year to inform parents of district policies and procedures. We have a parent-leader who sets up topics and the agenda. Collaborative School Committee

In DPS, schools have site-based management. The CSC (Collaborative School Committee) is the decision making body for the school. Each school’s CSC is comprised of the Principal, 4 teachers, 4 parents, a non-teaching staff person and 1 community representative. Parent Handbook

  ATTENDANCE Colorado State Law requires students to attend school. At Cheltenham we expect all students to be here every day. Regular daily attendance is necessary for satisfactory academic progress.
